Instructional Tools

Instructional tools are the most important pedagogical resources instructors can continue to research and share over the course of their careers. As experts continue to study how we learn--and as we continue to adapt and change as a species--instructors must also continually adapt not only our tools, but also our approaches to instruction.
The resources in this toolkit address the primary areas of instruction. They include the instructional approach, which most informs my teaching, and which benefits most students, according to research: cooperative group learning. The toolkit also includes articles on how to maximize instructional time and how to increase student engagement, two problems, which significantly affect student growth, regardless of which instructional model teachers use. Finally, the toolkit includes articles on re-teaching and extending beyond mastery to provide suggestions for differentiating instruction when students are either struggling to learn or need an increased challenge when they have already mastered their learning objectives.
